Both conventional wisdom and current data would suggest that active involvement by grandparents typically enhances the level of children’s functioning. However, in clinical work with families, grandparents are an often under utilized resource. This workshop will address practical approaches for clinicians working with children, parents, and/or grandparents in order to enhance the grandparentchild connection. We will explore the ways in which factors such as technology and family mobility can serve both as obstacles as well as opportunities in this special relationship.
