Generation Silent: Addressing Aging in the LGBT Community
Presented by Judeth Forlenza Wesley, LCSW, APRN, LCADC
As clinical staff, we are called to understand, appreciate an engage with seniors who have been on the front lines of the fight for sexual orientation acceptance and are now battling discrimination on two levels: aging and orientation. This workshop will address the experience of being gay, as participants explore their own values, attitudes and beliefs and begin to integrate and assess the impact of these issues on aging individuals and their families. Topics addressed include affirmative and inclusive language, best practice considerations, aging-specific issues and sexually inclusive interviewing. Social work ethics will be reviewed and emphasized as a foundation for working affirmatively with clients.

Class time: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Continuing Education hours: 5
Fee: $129
