In this workshop, we will review the common symptoms of major psychiatric illnesses and how they may manifest themselves in older adults. This will include affective disorders, particularly depression, as well as anxiety disorders and substance abuse. We will also review psychotic disorders and the personality disorders that are exacerbated in the aging process. The interface between common medical conditions, prescription medications and psychiatric problems will also be addressed.
