Two New Graduates of Parker's RN Residency Program
The New Jersey Action Coalition, NJAC and the Rutgers University Registered Nurse, RN Long Term Care Nurse Residency Program held their second cohort of nurse graduates on November 17 at Rutgers Livingston Campus.
Two of Parker‘s registered nurses: Everlyne Osiya, Parker at River Road, and Leslie Truelove, Parker at Monroe, were graduates of the yearlong nurse residency program.
Everlyne presented her project, “What’s Going On,” a quality study examining recurrent urinary infections in elders. Leslie presented her project, “Express Yourself,” a behavioral expressions education program utilizing the STAR-VA interdisciplinary behavioral approach.
The residency program, a CMS grant funded initiative, aims to increase RN retention rates and improve workforce stability in the long-term care setting while providing meaningful support and mentorship for the new RNs. Drs. Edna Cadmus and Susan Salmond lead the project at NJAC. Joanne Maxwell, Program Manager of Survey and Field Operations at the New Jersey Department of Health was the keynote speaker. Linda Hassler, Katherine Black and Nancy Bodnarczyk program coordinators presented the certificates and awards.
Kristin Fields RN precepted Everlyne, and Shari Salveston RN precepted Leslie. Both nurse residents and preceptors received the NICHE (Nurse Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) certificate, Geriatric Resource Nurse (GRN) Certificate, and the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners International Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners NCCDP Certification as a Dementia Practitioner. Graduates can add GRN and CDP to their credentials.
We congratulate Everlyne and Leslie on their professional accomplishments.
